About Kalakantha Das

Kalakantha Das

In 1973, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada formally accepted Kalakantha das as a disciple. Since then, Kalakantha das has served Srila Prabhupada by writing, lecturing widely, and managing many Krishna conscious projects. Beginning in 2006 he developed the highly successful Krishna House ashram and school in Gainesville, Florida, establishing a model for local youth outreach now being adopted in several other cities.

Among Kalakantha das’s various books and publications, “A God Who Dances,” a poetic rendition of Srimad Bhagavatam’s Tenth Canto, has been widely appreciated as a unique and relishable presentation of Lord Krishna’s pastimes. Recently he has translated Srila Prabhupada’s Gitar Gan and Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur’s Saranagati into English poetry for the first time, bringing these timeless classics into an easy and enjoyable format for today’s readers.

His current project is a groundbreaking and updated English translation of the Songs of the Vaishnava Acharyas, the well-known collection of beloved Vaishnava bhajans. In addition to his writing and other services, Kalakantha das and his family are applying Srila Prabhupada’s teachings on varnashram culture by developing a farm in Florida.
